Will the PS5 Slim be discounted for Black Friday? Even Sony doesn’t seem to know for sure, as it removes the trailer announcing the deal
- Sony has announced a big $70 discount for the PS5 Slim
- However, the trailer for the deal has now been removed
- It seems likely that the deal will resurface closer to Black Friday
It looks like the PS5 Slim is getting a slight discount during the Black Friday sale period… or is it?
As noted by IGNSony has released a short trailer announcing that the PS5 Slim Digital Edition will be reduced to $379.99 – a pretty significant $70 off its retail price of $449.99 in the US. Still try to watch the trailer at this point it won’t do you any favors as Sony very quickly removed it from the list after it went live yesterday (November 12).
While there was no start date attached to the deal, it would run until December 24 – so plenty of time to grab one in time for Christmas. The deal would have been a big boon for those planning to buy a PS5 disc drive, which retails for $79.99. That would bring the total price to $459.98 – about $40 cheaper than the PS5 Slim console including the disc drive.
The most likely reason for removing the trailer is that it was simply installed too early. Black Friday PS5 deals start on November 29, so we could see PlayStation’s official channels posting the deal trailer a little closer to the time.
Strangely, there’s no word on whether or not the standard PS5 Slim with the included disc drive will get a Black Friday discount, although this could also be up to the discretion of individual retailers. We also don’t know if the deal will be mirrored in other parts of the world, such as Britain and Australia.
All we can say at this point is: watch this space. We’d be surprised if Sony decided to cancel the deal entirely, as there will undoubtedly be plenty of buyers eager to get their hands on the console at a discount before the holidays.
