Wimbledon 2025 will be the smartest championships so far, and it can help me fall in love with tennis again

This year’s Wimbledon Tennis Championships are the most interactive and exhausting for sports fans, thanks to a large AI upgrade.
The iconic tournament, a main pillar of the British summer, introduces a series of AI-driven upgrades and services for fans via the Wimbledon.com website and app.
This includes a completely new position with which fans can explore information about certain competitions in almost real -time, and an improved tool that wants to predict the possible winners of each competition.
Match chat and more
IBM is now the technology partner for the Lawn Tennis Club of All-England (AELTC), tournament organizers for Wimbledon, 36 years old, with 2025 who still marks an important milestone for the pair.
In the footsteps of recent AI-driven innovations such as 2024’s Bang Me Upwho used the generative AI of Watsonx to make updates based on players in the form of “maps” that are available on the Wimbledon.com website or mobile app, and AI comment introduced in 2023The two organizations hope that these new progress will offer fans old and new greater insights into the tournament.
“The way in which sports are consumed is always evolving,” said Kevin Farrar, head of sports partnerships at IBM UK, a pre-tournament briefing attended by TechRadar Pro: “Our challenge is to see how we tap into it”.
New before 2025 is Match Chat – a new conversation interface with which fans can explore information about the competition in almost real -time.
The tool is built with technologies on Watsonx Orchestrate, takes AI agents and large language models (LLMS), such as IBM Granite, who are trained in the editorial style and language of Tennis in Wimbledon – so “men” and “ladies” singles, instead of men/women.
Fans will be able to use a number of pre -written prompts or to ask their own questions (such as ‘Who has served most aces in the competition?’ Or ‘Who performs better in the competition?’), With answers that are delivered almost immediately.
IBM says that the match chat training also ensures that the tool remains focused on tennis – users can only ask questions about competitions at the tournament, so there is hopefully no chance that it will be distracted if you ask where the tastiest strawberries are.
“When we design something new, it always starts with the fan first … We think this will be a truly fascinating experience that tackles a number of different types of fans,” remarked Chris Clements, Digital Products Leading at the Aeltc.
“In the core, sport is a human thing, it is an emotional thing – we use Ai to tell these stories to be told more effectively.”
For the first time introduced in 2024, the tool “likely to win” will also have an AI boost, and will now change the projected profit percentage, even during a single game, which generates projections of AI-driven analysis of player statistics, opinion of experts and match momentum.
The Wimbledon Championships 2025 run from 30 June – 13 July 2025, with the app that is now available on Android and iOS, as well as on the Wimbledon.com website.
