Winter Session of Parliament: Major Bills on Waqf and Banking Laws; check the full list
NEW DELHI: The winter session of Parliament begins on Monday and will run till December 20, with discussions on several bills planned.
Here are some of the bills listed for the session:
Waqf Bill: The Waqf (Amendment) Bill is expected to be debated and passed once the joint committee of both the Houses submits its report to the Lok Sabha. It is mandatory for the panel to submit its report on the last day of the first week of the winter session.
Merchant Navy, Coastal Shipping and Indian Ports Invoice: Another new bill proposed by the government is the Merchant Shipping Bill, aimed at ensuring that India complies with its obligations under international maritime treaties to which the country is a signatory. In addition, the Coastal Shipping Bill and the Indian Ports Bill are also slated for introduction and approval. In addition, the legislative agenda includes the Boilers Bill, the Rashtriya Sahkari Vishwavidyalaya Bill and the Punjab Courts (Amendment) Bill.
The other legislative agenda includes several bills for introduction and consideration, such as the Mussalman Wakf (Repeal) Bill, the Bharatiya Vayuyan Vidheyak, the Disaster Management (Amendment) Bill, the Adjustment of Representation of Scheduled Tribes in the Constituencies of the State of Goa, the Bills of Lading Bill, the Maritime Carriage of Goods Act, the Railways Amendment Act, the Banking Acts Amendment Act, and the Oil Fields (Regulation and Development) Amendment Act.
INDIA bloc party leaders will meet at Parliament House at 10am on November 25 to finalize their opposition strategy before the session begins on Monday. A special celebration of “Constitution Day” will result in both houses remaining closed on November 26.
Rajya Sabha Opposition Leader Mallikarjun Kharge This is expected to determine the opposition’s parliamentary approach. The Congress party is likely to raise the situation in Manipur and the allegations regarding the AdGroup.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju spoke to journalists after the all-party meeting in Delhi on Sunday expressing the government’s willingness to discuss any issue and called for a harmonious parliamentary session. He noted that numerous discussion points have been proposed for the upcoming winter session.
“A total of 42 leaders from 30 political parties were present at the meeting. There are many topics. Everyone has asked for discussion on some issues, but we want there to be a proper discussion in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. The government is ready to discuss any issue. Our only request is that the House functions well and that there is no unrest. Every member wants to participate in the discussion, but the House must function properly. For the winter session to run smoothly, everyone’s cooperation is needed everyone’s participation is needed,” Rijiju had said.
