Winter sun lovers get a boost from Tui: Europe’s largest travel organisation praises ‘promising start’ to the season

Europe’s largest travel company has announced a “promising start” to the winter holiday season as more customers fly during off-peak hours.

Tui reports that the number of holidaymakers travelling in the ‘off-peak months’ such as September and November is increasing.

These are generally less popular, but can help tourists avoid the extreme heat of summer and the crowds during school holidays.

According to a Tui spokesperson, Egypt, Cape Verde, Thailand and Mexico are popular winter destinations.

The German company also said annual profits will rise by “at least” a quarter due to growing demand. The group has recently raised prices to help cope with higher costs.

Summer outings were 3 percent more expensive this year than last year and for winter they have increased by 5 percent so far.

Tui said summer bookings were up 6 percent on last year to 14.7 million. Winter bookings were up 7 percent so far.
