With this new feature you can now add a song to your Instagram profile
Instagram has announced a new feature that aims to improve the personalization of user profiles. The feature is called Profile Song. As the name suggests, it allows users to add a specific song to their profile that best suits their mood or other preferences. The social media platform has an extensive list of licensed songs that can be added. For the introduction of the feature, Instagram has teamed up with US-based singer and actress Sabrina Carpenter.
Song on Instagram profile feature
In a after On X (formerly Twitter), the official Instagram handle announced the profile song feature. It will be displayed below the user’s bio. According to Instagram, the audio track will not play automatically, but can be played by tapping the music icon. However, this will only allow for 30 seconds of playback.
The social media platform is partnering with Sabrina Carpenter to roll out the feature, which will include a short teaser of her song “Taste,” from an upcoming album due out Friday.
The number will be displayed on the user’s profile until they decide to change it, according to Instagram. The profile number feature is available on all consumer and creator accounts. To set it up:
- From the Profile tab, select ‘Edit Profile’ and then tap ‘Add Music to Your Profile’.
- Search for your favorite song or browse our ‘For You’ section.
- Select the song you want to use and choose the clip duration for your profile.
- You can choose 30 seconds of the song.
Gadgets 360 staff was able to verify the feature’s availability on Instagram for Android. However, it was not present in the iOS app at the time.
Other New Instagram Features
The new feature builds on several media-related goodies that Instagram has been rolling out in recent months. In July, the social media platform announced a multi-audio track feature, allowing users to add up to 20 tracks to a single Instagram Reel. They can also align the audio with text and edit the Reel with stickers, clips and other items. The app can generate a fade effect, with an option to overlap audio clips.
The newly created mix is saved with attribution to the creator. Not only the creators themselves, but also others can use the mixed track.
