Woman, 20, ‘in shock’ after learning she’s pregnant with quadruplets after going to doctor with sore throat

A 20-year-old woman was left shocked to discover she was pregnant with quadruplets after going to the doctor with a sore throat.
Katelyn Yates, from Greenup, Illinois, went to the emergency room in early April after pain in her throat wouldn’t go away.
Doctors wanted to take an X-ray to find out what was wrong, and she was told to take a routine pregnancy test first because radiation is dangerous to unborn babies.
It never occurred to Katelyn, who works as a nursing assistant, that it would come back positive.
But it did – and then she was told that she wasn’t expecting just one baby, she was expecting four.
“I was in complete shock,” she recalled Today show of the moment she found out.
The Illinois resident added that she initially thought it was a prank because it happened on April 1.
But she explained that her now fiancé, Julian Bueker, 21, eased her nerves.

On October 17, at 28 weeks, her liver and kidneys began to fail, so she underwent an emergency C-section and welcomed her four babies, Elizabeth, Max, Elliot and Zya.
But because they were born prematurely, they were extremely small, and although they are currently still in the NICU, Katelyn told the publication that they are “doing phenomenally.”
She said he was “so excited” despite only starting their relationship six months earlier, and his response made the situation so much easier.
Unfortunately, Katelyn started having problems during her pregnancy, as she suffered from something known as preeclampsia, a “serious blood pressure condition that develops after the twentieth week of pregnancy,” according to My Cleveland clinic.
On October 17, at 28 weeks, her liver and kidneys began to fail, so she underwent an emergency C-section and welcomed her four babies, Elizabeth, Max, Elliot and Zya.
But because they were born prematurely, they were extremely small, weighing from one pound two ounces to two pounds six ounces.
They are currently still in the NICU, but Katelyn told the publication that they are “doing phenomenally.”
“They’re gaining weight and growing,” she said. “Elizabeth is about six ounces away from reaching two pounds.
‘I think it’s amazing how well they’re doing. Just a few weeks ago they were the size of my hand.’
