Woman admits she’s ‘weakened by negativity’ over age gap in 19-year marriage
A COUPLE with a 19-year age gap have hit back at internet trolls after they were inundated with the ‘negativity’ in comments directed at them.
Emily, 28, married Michael, 47, in January. The couple has been criticized for their age gap since they started dating.
In the comments of a recent TikTok video, someone wrote, “Girl, your man!
“You look like his granddaughter, OMG.”
The couple chose to respond in another videoas Emily joked, “You should have seen me five years ago.
“When I still looked quite young!

“Then I could agree with you, and that wasn’t entirely true either, considering his white hair.”
“I was so in love, and I still am, with every piece of your heart, knowing who you were, where you were going in life, and how you were living your life, and I loved it all,” Michael told his wife, before adding, “But man, you looked so young!”
When Emily admitted she looked young, considering she was “only 23” when they met, Michael said they sometimes got “strange looks” in the supermarket.
“We still get strange looks!” Emily insisted.
She then addressed the “increased negativity in the comments” she’s noticed lately, particularly in the comments on her Instagram Reels, which are getting “really mean.”
While people say they can expect negativity because they share their lives on social media, Emily says, “I feel like, and I notice it, not just on our page, but especially with the really big creators.
“I feel like everyone is experiencing more and more hate lately.
“It can be paralyzing to read your comments and only see so much negativity.
“What drives me crazy is that nowadays we are just okay with people being cruel sometimes.”
“Well, that’s not okay,” Michael insisted.
“We are not okay with it.
“It basically comes down to people hiding behind their phones and saying whatever they want, just for their own entertainment.
“You know, ‘Hahaha. I said this and it’s funny.'”
And while they find the occasional comment “really funny,” most of the comments are negative. Emily ends the video by calling on others to “spread positivity.”
The comments then poured in on TikTok, with most people praising Emily and Michael for speaking out against the hate they faced.
“Even with his gray hair, your husband doesn’t look like a grandfather,” one person wrote.
“He has such a youthful appearance, ignore the haters, they are jealous of your beautiful relationship!”
“He doesn’t look like a grandpa,” another insisted.
“The only thing that makes him look a little older is his white hair.
“But hey, men get more handsome as they get older! Silver fox I say!”
“You’re both pretty,” a third commented.
“Very attractive couple.
“I think jealousy sometimes manifests itself in negative ways. You are beautiful people.”
While someone else wrote: “My husband and I are 23 years apart in age.
“We have become closer and understand each other better than in any other relationship I have ever had.
“They can just throw away their negative comments!”
