Woman admits that there has been a splinter in her eye for ten years after the Harry Potter world tour

A woman has revealed she has been living with a splinter in her eye for ten years and has no plans to remove it.

Sydney White was with her family at Harry Potter World in California when she felt something fly into her eye.

Soon, the 27-year-old felt a burning sensation in her eyeball and it became swollen.

She admitted that she felt a “searing pain” in her eye and could not open it.

It took “weeks” for the swelling to go down, and Sydney could finally see the small piece of wood in her eye.

And although it felt ‘scratchy’ at times, the 27-year-old revealed she wouldn’t remove it.

She said doctors never told her to remove it, so she kept the splinter in her eye all these years later.

The Idaho-based content creator added that she harbored no negativity towards Harry Potter World despite the unfortunate incident.

She noted that she felt the small piece of wood fly into her eye while she was out with her family.

The 27-year-old recounted the incident in a viral TikTok video, which has been viewed more than 422,000 times so far.

‘I was on a day out [and] went on tour with my family. While they were there, the guide pointed out some construction work,” she said.

‘As she did that and I looked up, I felt a burning pain in my left eye that wouldn’t go away. It took a few weeks for the pain to subside and the redness to subside, but when I was finally able to look at my eye, I saw it.

“A small piece of wood had fallen into my eye.”

Although it is sometimes painful, she has never had it removed.

She said: ‘If an ophthalmologist had told me to remove it, I would have.

‘I suppose there is a risk of infection if it is removed, but there is always a risk of it affecting my vision if it isn’t already.’

Even ten years after the incident, Sydney shared that her eye still hurt.

‘Sometimes it bothers me, it feels itchy. When I press my eyelid on the splinter site, it still hurts, even 10 years later,” she said.

In the clip, the camera zooms in on Sydney’s eye, fully revealing the piece of wood.

The piece of wood is located in the sclera, the white part of the eyeball, but is extremely close to her iris, the colored area that contains the pupil.

She captioned the video, “Hey, there’s a little wood in your eyes.”

People on the internet were stunned by her confession as they flocked to the comments section and expressed their shock.

One person joked: ‘Girl, that’s your wand.’

Someone else wrote: ‘Okay, are you going to tell us why you still have it there?’
