USING a bunk bed in your bathroom may not be the first thing that comes to mind when you’re renovating a bathroom yourself.

But Maryam Maryam, a woman with a flair for money, recently did just that, and her spectacular glow-up has left Facebook users in awe.

Although the downstairs toilet was already beautiful and clean, the DIY-loving woman decided to make it even more fun

Sharing stunning before and after photos on the popular DIY on a Budget Official On the page, Maryam shared that she spent just £40 in total on transforming her downstairs toilet.

The original toilet, which she showed in the mailwas beautiful and tidy from the start, with simple white walls, one of which had wood-print wallpaper, an orchid on a sheer shelf and dark blinds with gemstone details.

While the overall aesthetic was fantastic, Maryam decided she wanted to spice it up a bit and add some character by going all out with the trendy palm tree look.

First, the DIY enthusiast found a fabric inspired by the Swiss cheese plant. She transformed the old blinds with it. She neatly attached the fabric with a needle and some string.

With that done, it was time to create an accent wall. Instead of spending a fortune on off-the-shelf molding, the budget-conscious woman made use of an old bunk bed.

After measuring the planks, she nailed them to the wall near the toilet and small sink, giving it a more rectangular shape.

After attaching the bunk bed parts to the wall, she painted the area a beautiful dark green color, then added a gorgeous gold wallpaper between the planks.

The existing chandelier was also completely renewed and given a new look. Maryam matched the jungle theme and attached fake leaves. A number of crystals were retained for a more glamorous look.

The DIY enthusiast was delighted with the amazing transformation, saying: “My downstairs toilet cost about £40 in total. I love it.

“I got such mixed reactions from friends and family that I was hesitant to post it,” she bravely admitted.

While her friends and family may not have been fans of the glow-up, social media users were in love with it and praised Maryam en masse for her creativity.

“OMG I love it especially the light shade,” wrote one page member.

Someone else added: “I was looking through the pictures and thought to myself I’m not that crazy about the light shade but when I saw it all together I thought it looked amazing! Well done.”

Another agreed, writing, “I love the wallpaper in the wainscoting!”

After taking the internet by storm, Maryam also discussed the cost of the DIY project.

”[£40] that was for the paint, paintings, mats and towels, artificial plants and wood glue.

”I had all the decorative tassels and such, the wood came from the slats of a bunk bed, the lampshade was made from artificial plants and the mirror was found at the local recycling centre when I was dumping old carpets.”

The handy woman didn’t stop there: Maryam later announced that she would soon be renovating her garage and social media users are already looking forward to seeing the stunning results.
