Woman warned to check codes on hair dye bottles because she has gray locks
A WOMAN has issued an urgent warning after her hair went grey when someone mixed up the hair dye bottles in the shop.
Dusti explained that she wanted to buy hair dye at the store and she had chosen the box that was closest to the color she wanted.
It was only after she had applied the mixture and rinsed it off that she realised she had been the victim of a cruel joke.
“To whoever mixed up the color in the box of paint at Walmart, you’re an asshole,” she said in a video on her TikTok page.
“I couldn’t have dyed my hair this color even if I tried. I couldn’t have dyed my hair this color even if I tried!
“It’s definitely not a color I would ever dye my hair.”
As for the reason behind the joke, Dusti added: “Why? I don’t get it.
“Like, does this turn you on? You’re a jerk.
“It’s not right.
“If you’re going to play a joke on someone, do something funny.
“This isn’t funny. I’m not laughing.”
“Whoever exchanged the box I bought with gray, you’re an asshole,” Dusti wrote in the next video, on which she had gray locks.
“I didn’t even use a blonde,” she explained in response to someone else’s comment.
“I wanted to match it with the brown highlights I have in my extensions.”
People were quick to respond to the video, with one person writing: “My mom always told me to check if the code on the bottle matches the code on the box.
“I think this happened to my grandma once or something, haha.”
“As a retail manager it’s very easy to switch and get a more expensive color in a cheaper package,” added another.
“I’ve caught people doing it several times!”
How do you know for sure that the dye in the box is the color you want?
- Check the numbers – each bottle of dye should have a number on it, which should match the number on the box
- Brand safe – the bottle will usually have the brand name on it too, so double check that it matches what is on the box
- Name play – It may sound crazy, but many bottles have the name of the color on the front. So if you’re expecting a light brown and the tube says black, you might want to triple check to make sure it’s the right color before applying.
“That happened to me too and then the developer disappeared too!!” a third commented.
“I always thought that was impossible too, but when I bought my paint the cashier opened the door and said people steal or switch the paint,” someone else wrote.
Dusti replied, “Crazy. Most of them aren’t even sealed with a sticker.”
“That’s why I always check that the tube in the box has the correct shade number before mixing it,” adds another.
“This is my worst nightmare, lol!”
“I didn’t even know this existed,” Dusti replied.
“I rarely dye my hair!”
