Women actors in Kerala approach the Supreme Court over code of conduct
Kochi: The Women in Cinema Collective (WCC) has filed a petition in the Kerala HC seeking guidelines to Malayalam film industry until the government has passed legislation on this matter.
The bench sought a response from the state government. The petitioners stressed the need to protect the fundamental rights of women in the film industry while ensuring equal opportunities and dignity.
The petitioners have submitted a draft code of conduct for cinema, proposing measures to address issues such as work culture, gender sensitization and inadequate infrastructure. The code also advocates a zero-tolerance policy against sexual harassment, abuse, intimidation and coercion. Members of the All Kerala Hair and Make-up Stylists Union have also moved HC, alleging threats to union members for filing complaints with the SIT probing allegations in the Justice Hema Committee report. tnn
