Women want to lust after ‘rodent men,’ says Vanessa Feltz of ‘new rat pack’
UNLESS you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve probably heard of the “hot rodent man” trend.
TikTokkers talk about it, newspaper columnists write about it, and women love men who are the opposite of what we consider “normally” handsome.
The term refers to a group of coveted celebrities who resemble rodents with their rat-like appearance. functions such as small pointy faces, beady eyes and protruding ears.
These men are not tall and a bit thin.
They’re the kind of men women don’t necessarily expect to be turned on by and are the antidote to Barbie’s Ken.
But these handsome rodent men — yes Kieran Culkin, Josh O’Connor, Mike Faist, Jeremy Allen White, Timothée ChalametAdam Driver, Barry Keoghan and Matt Healy, I’m looking at you guys — you’re having your moment in the sun and I have to say I’m not surprised.
Women always tend to fall for slightly unconventional men.
There have always been men who have so much charisma, confidence and talent that they prove to be irresistible, even if they are not generally good looking. Anyone who knows Dustin Hoffman in The Graduate knows what I mean.
He was hardly a hunk — he didn’t look like he was going to grab you, take you into his cave, and have his darkest thing with you. But he was seriously sexy, and women were crazy about him.
So this trend isn’t new, it’s just a new name.
As one TikToker put it last week, “It’s hot rodent boyfriend summer, but I signed up for that class a long time ago. The rat boys have always been there and always the hottest.”
I saw Saltburn and although Barry Keoghan doesn’t do it for me, women absolutely love him. He was so confident in his body and was so excited when he did that naked dance.
It’s that bravado and charisma that makes him so sexy and it’s clear his girlfriend, singer Sabrina Carter, agrees.
No one can make chopping vegetables look as tempting as Jeremy Allen White in The Bear. And while Willy Wonka was never a sex symbol, Timothee Chalamet made a maroon velvet coat look appealing in Wonka.
Personally I am more of a Wesley Snipes is a girl and I don’t like her sly look.
That said, I would never rule out dating someone who looks like that. If they are attractive, humorous, and energetic, then of course I would consider it.
‘Oppressive and boring’
The idea that you have to look a certain way to be attractive is not true. It is completely oppressive and boring.
I know a few attractive, sexy women who prefer short men, who you could say are a little sly, but once you start talking to them you get it right away.
The whole perfect, muscular action man look is a bit passé, as we have seen from the lukewarm response to this year’s Love Island “hunks”.
Years ago I went on a date with a male model and he was handsome, just as expected.
He was 1.93 meters tall, incredibly slim, very muscular, had clear skin and beautiful eyes.

When he asked me out, I could hardly believe it.
I was all excited, but it turned out the guy was extremely boring.
So maybe these rodents are just more fun? Maybe they’re better in bed and it’s great to have dinner with them.
I know a lot of young women feel like there’s a double standard. They’re expected to look a certain way, with the right hair, the right breasts, and a certain size of dress, while all these men are dropping women at their feet, even though they look like rats.
As another TikToker put it, “How come they don’t have cute rodent girlfriends?”
But we all know that the most attractive thing is to be yourself and that looking a little different is something to cherish.
The “hot rodent man” trend is something to celebrate in my opinion, and let’s continue to encourage people to feel good about being different!
