An abandoned slate quarry in Noord -Wales that has been submerged under water for the past 20 years will open itself as an underwater museum.
Vivian Quarry in Gwyndd, once part of the second largest slate mine in the world, is now recognized as one UNESCO World heritage site.
It has been flooded quietly for two decades, which hidden old mining buildings, tools and even a circular explosion care under 19 meters of water.
The historic site will soon be accessible to the public, where visitors will be as young as ten to dive into and explore the ruins of the former quarry.
After the closure in 1960, the quarry has been open to experienced divers for the past 12 years.
Thanks to new technology developed by Xplor Group, everyone – including complete beginners and children – will be able to explore the museum without prior Scuba training after a safety briefing of 10 minutes.
The diving center, run by Scuba Scape, will be opened this summer and promises a ‘World First’ experience.

In addition to its museum functions, the site will also organize a unique underwater escape room, allowing divers to participate in interactive games while visiting the remains of the quarry.
Bookings are expected to open soon on the Scuba Scape website, with tickets priced at £ 73.36.
