Would Apple’s new workout -buddy make me run consistently again? This is why I am so enthusiastic about it

The Apple WatchThe fitness functions have been consistently more impressive in recent years, between new running statistics, the recent addition of training tax and integrations with apps from third parties such as such as such as Training breaks. I should emphasize that I don’t have such problems to go to the gym. My hesitation to run (which costs much less work and time than lifting weights) feels very much like an own problem, so it is gratifying that Apple can have a solution for me and can give me less as if I am the only “restrained runner” there.
As revealed to WWDC 25 This week, Watchos 26 Offers Workout Buddy, a “first fitness experience with Apple Intelligence, which contains the training data of a user and their fitness history to generate personalized, motivating insights during their session, based on data such as heart rate, tempo, distance, activity rings, personal fitness militons and more.”
It is that word ‘motivating’ that has aroused my interest, and although I am on my guard for the use of AI (especially as a journalist who makes his bread, a few few words of encouragement in my ear when I push myself out of the door for a 5K, a 5K could make the difference.
I recently completed my first 10K hard running event after a few health problems of the heart in recent years, and having an AI assistant emphasizes my heart rate data and advise me how much further I could have pushed myself every now and then, the fearful questions I asked myself, like “am I too fast?” Or “am I pushing too hard?”
When matching my style of running
When I get off for a run, I try to prevent me from looking at my look Apple Watch Ultra. I often don’t want to know what my pace is like, because I try to be more intentional with exercise. Namely, my thoughts on the whole ‘moving my legs’ part of the training instead of keeping an eye on my pace.
Looking at my pace and seeing it slower than expected, is a bit of a moral buster, while checking the distance run and seeing that I am less than halfway through my circuit, has a tendency to have a negative impact on my pace, as if I am prepared that it is over.
If I can adjust what the AI offers as encouragement, then I feel that I have and eat my proverbial cake, push myself further without going too fat how far I have fallen since my Prime ten years ago. Less less think of “here are your splits”, and more “keep going, you are doing great!”.
In the past I have tried AI coaching -apps like singingAnd as promising as they are, they can often feel overly complex if you just want to follow some exercises or your step count. Having something like training buddy that native runs on my devices that I can call when I need it, and minimize when I don’t, really feels like the best of both worlds. Roll on September!
