Xbox Game Pass prices are increasing again
Just weeks after Microsoft confirmed that the next Call of Duty title will be coming to Xbox Game Pass at launch, announced a price increase to its game subscription service across all territories and tiers on Monday. The Xbox parent company also introduced a new Game Pass tier, called Xbox Game Pass Standard, which excludes access to first-party titles on launch day. The updated pricing will go into effect for new Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, Xbox Game Pass Core, and PC Game Pass subscribers starting July 10.
New Xbox Game Pass Prices
In India, the monthly subscription price for Game Pass Ultimate, which gives players access to the game library, day-one releases and other benefits on both Xbox consoles and PC, is increasing from Rs. 549 to Rs. 829. On the other hand, an annual subscription to Game Pass Core will cost players Rs. 3,349, up from Rs. 1,999. The low-cost tier offers a library of select games, along with access to online multiplayer on Xbox consoles. Meanwhile, the monthly PC Game Pass subscription is increasing from Rs. 249 to Rs. 449. These new prices apply now to new Game Pass members, but existing subscribers will see the higher rates reflected in their subscription costs starting September 12.
Game Pass Standard
Microsoft also introduced Game Pass Standard, a new subscription tier for Xbox consoles that gives players a library of hundreds of titles and all the benefits of Game Pass Core, including online console multiplayer and discounts. This new tier does not include new first-party titles on launch day, however. Game Pass Standard will be available in the coming months for $14.99 (roughly Rs. 1,251).
Additionally, the company announced that it was discontinuing Game Pass for Console for new subscribers. Players who were already subscribed to the console-specific tier with auto-renewal enabled will continue to have access to the benefits of their membership. Microsoft said the new Game Pass changes would allow the company to “add more value and more great games to Game Pass.”
The price increase came after Microsoft confirmed in May that Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, the next installment in Activision’s first-person shooter franchise, would be available on the first day of the Game Pass launch on October 25.
This also marks the second price hike for Xbox Game Pass, after Microsoft raised its subscription prices in July last year, raising the price of Game Pass Ultimate in India from Rs. 499 to Rs. 549.
