Xiaomi 12 Pro survives JerryRigEverything bending test
Xiaomi 12 Pro has passed JerryRigEverything’s durability test, which suggests that the smartphone is structurally stronger when compared to the OnePlus 10 Pro. The OnePlus phone failed the bend test and broke in half. During the rigorous testing, the phones were subjected to scratches, fire and a bend test. Xiaomi 12 Pro and OnePlus 10 Pro have similar specifications. Both are flagship models from Xiaomi and OnePlus respectively. While the OnePlus 10 Pro made its debut in India in March, the Xiaomi 12 Pro was launched last month.
In an eight-plus minute video posted by Zack Nelson on his YouTube channel JerryRigEverything, the Xiaomi 12 Pro is put through the regular scratch test. The phone has a Corning Gorilla Glass Victus display and a screen protector from Xiaomi. The phone’s screen started to develop light scratches at hardness level six on the Mohs scale, with deeper grooves at level seven — something a phone might not experience during day-to-day use. This is similar to how the OnePlus 10 Pro performed on the JerryRigEverything test.
Despite getting deep scratches on the display, especially in the area above the under-display fingerprint sensor, the Xiaomi 12 Pro continued to recognize touch inputs. In the burn test, the screen got burnt after about 30 seconds of being exposed to a lighter flame, leaving a white spot. The Xiaomi phone gets an aluminum frame and a matte back. The video shows that the paint on the frame is peeling off and the matte paint gets scratched easily.
In the final round, Nelson tries to bend the smartphone from the middle. The Xiaomi 12 Pro remained intact, but there were some clicking sounds indicating internal damage. In comparison, the OnePlus 10 Pro broke in half during the bending test.
The Xiaomi 12 Pro price in India has been set at Rs. 62,999 for the 8GB RAM model. The 12GB RAM variant carries a price tag of Rs. 66,999. Xiaomi launched the phone in Couture Blue, Noir Black, and Opera Mauve colour options.
