Xiaomi 12, Xiaomi 12X tipped to launch in December

The launch of Xiaomi 12 and Xiaomi 12X could take place in December, according to a new leak that suggests the company’s upcoming high-end smartphone series could be unveiled in the coming weeks. Xiaomi 12 and Xiaomi 12X are both expected to have curved screens. While the more powerful Xiaomi 12 is expected to include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC, the Xiaomi 12X is tipped to carry a Snapdragon 870 SoC. Some further specifications of the two upcoming smartphones have also surfaced online.

The company has not yet released official details of both Xiaomi 12 and Xiaomi 12X, in terms of specs and pricing. Previous leaks have suggested that Xiaomi could launch 12 at an event in December, but a new report suggests that the company could also announce Xiaomi 12X along with its upcoming flagship as a possible successor to the Mi 11X launched last year. The Mi 11X has a Snapdragon 870 chipset, which is also expected to arrive on the upcoming Xiaomi 12X.

Xiaomi 12X is likely to launch with a 6.28-inch (1080×2400 pixels) OLED display and will have the Snapdragon 870 SoC under the hood, along with a 5000mAh battery, according to a report from MyDrivers, which also suggests the smartphone could may arrive along with Xiaomi 12 at a launch event in December. According to the report, the device could have a 50-megapixel camera and a 20-megapixel selfie camera on the front. Xiaomi 12X is also tipped to support wired charging at 67W and wireless charging at 33W.

Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra was launched in India earlier this year and has a curved screen, while the company launched Mi 11 with a flat screen. Both Xiaomi 12 and Xiaomi 12X may have curved screens and symmetrical speakers, according to a Weibo post from Digital Chat Station spotted by Sparrows News.

Xiaomi 12 could also come this year with a full-HD+ (1,080×2,400) AMOLED display, with a refresh rate of 120 Hz. This is a step down from the Mi 11, which had a 1440p display. According to previous reports, the handset may also have a 50-megapixel primary camera and support for 100W fast charging.
