Xiaomi 12S Ultra, Xiaomi 12S Key Camera Specs Revealed
The Xiaomi 12S Ultra will feature a Sony IMX989 sensor while the Xiaomi 12S will feature a Sony IMX707 sensor. It is speculated that this 1-inch sensor will have a resolution of 50-megapixel and the Xiaomi 12S Ultra will be the first smartphone to feature it. Further, the sensor on the Xiaomi 12S will also have a resolution of 50-megapixel, a size of 1/1.28-inch and will be paired with a 7P lens with an aperture of f/1.9. The smartphones are launching on July 4.
The information about Xiaomi 12S Ultra with a Sony IMX989 comes from Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun. He posted a series of updates on Weibo announcing that Sony IMX989 will set a new standard in smartphone imaging together with Leica and Xiaomi. In one of the messagesHe says the Xiaomi 12S Ultra’s main sensor will have a 172 percent larger light-sensitive area, 76 percent more light-sensing capacity, 32.5 percent faster camera speed, and 11 percent faster boot speed compared to the iPhone 13 Pro Max.
The delegate also mentioned that the Sony IMX989 was jointly developed by Xiaomi and Sony, and that both companies had an equal share in the production of the sensor.
