Xiaomi India appoints Muralikrishnan B as president: Full details
Chinese smart device maker Xiaomi has promoted its chief operating officer Muralikrishnan B to president to lead its India business. Muralikrishnan has been the company’s chief operating officer since 2018. He will take over as president of Xiaomi India from August 1.
“In his new role as President of Xiaomi India, Muralikrishnan B will be responsible for the day-to-day operations, services, public affairs and strategic projects. He will also continue to strengthen the company’s commitment to the Make in India and Digital India initiatives,” Xiaomi said in a statement.
Muralikrishan was the company’s top executive and headed its India operations after former Xiaomi India CEO Manu Jain moved his base to Dubai.
Muralikrishan’s elevation comes at a time when the Enforcement Directorate is investigating an alleged violation of the Foreign Exchange Act by the company.
Muralikrishnan, an alumnus of IIM-Calcutta, has over 25 years of experience in consumer technology and has been instrumental in growing the brand across offline sales, service, operations, etc.
“Under Muralikrishnan’s able leadership, the company has achieved strong growth across categories and significantly scaled its organizational capabilities and execution machinery, and laid a solid foundation in the offline retail segment. Xiaomi India will focus on strengthening its commitment to the country and will remain true to its core philosophy of delivering innovation for all,” the statement said.
Last month, Xiaomi India had announced the appointment of Alvin Tse as the General Manager for its operations in the country. Tse’s appointment follows the promotion of Manu Jain to Group Vice President at Xiaomi last year. The company had also revealed that Anuj Sharma, who moved to Poco over two years ago, would be rejoining Xiaomi India as Chief Marketing Officer.
