The Chinese smartphone brand, which has been in the Indian market for eight years, on Monday unveiled its four-legged robot CyberDog in select Indian cities. The robot is built on Nvidia’s Jetson Xavier NX AI Supercomputer for Embedded Edge Systems, coupled with 128GB of SSD storage. This AI supercomputer packs 384 CUDA cores, 48 Tensor cores, a 6 Carmel Arm CPU and 2 deep learning acceleration engines. It also uses open-source algorithms.

Xiaomi says the CyberDog is agile and can easily adapt to complex terrain. It has 11 sensors, including cameras, GPS modules, and a touch and ultrasonic sensor to process data. Furthermore, the CyberDog has an array of camera sensors, including AI-based cameras, binocular ultra-wide-angle fisheye cameras, and an Intel RealSense D450 depth module for tracking objects and creating a navigation map by eliminating obstacles. Powered by Xiaomi’s own servo motors that generate up to 32Nm of torque and 220 revolutions per minute, the CyberDog is said to be able to move at up to 3.2 meters per second and can perform actions such as backflips.

It supports voice control and is said to recognize wake words and instructions. The robot can also be controlled via a remote control or a smartphone app. For connectivity, the robot has three USB Type-C ports and an HDMI port, and users can pair searchlight, panoramic camera, motion camera and LiDAR with the CyberDog.

The CyberDog was initially revealed at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2022 held in Barcelona in February. The company will showcase the robot at Mi Homes in Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Kolkata and Ahmedabad in the coming days.
