Yalyalup crash: Teen driver dies and passenger seriously injured after Mercedes collides with bus

A teenager has been killed and her passenger seriously injured after a horrific crash involving a minibus and a car.

A Mercedes sedan collided with a Mitsubishi Rosa minibus at the intersection of Bussell Highway and Tuart Drive in Yalyalup, south of Perth, at 6.30pm on Saturday.

The driver of the Mercedes, an 18-year-old woman, suffered serious injuries and died at the scene.

Her 17-year-old female passenger was seriously injured and taken by ambulance to Bunbury Regional Hospital.

The driver of the minibus, a 23-year-old man, was unharmed.

Despite recent improvements, the road is a notorious accident site.

In April, a 40-year-old man died at the same intersection after his motorcycle collided with another vehicle.

In March last year, a 69-year-old man died after his motorcycle was hit by a car.

Residents called for the speed limit to be reduced from 70mph to 50mph after a spate of accidents along the Bussell Highway, including the death of a 29-year-old man who was killed when a truck collided with his car.
