Yokine, Perth: Terrifying moment aerial platform topples over with 22-year-old worker inside – leaving him with horrific injuries
A young worker has been seriously injured after an aerial work platform fell over while he was still in it.
The 22-year-old man fell seven meters after the aerial platform collapsed while he was pruning trees in Yokine, Perth’s northern suburbs, on Friday.
Video of the fall shows the man landing on the opposite side of the road as the machine narrowly avoided a parked car.
The man’s colleague can be seen crossing the road to help, before the worker was taken to Royal Perth Hospital with a broken arm.
A City of Stirling spokesperson confirmed the man was on contract to work for the council when the incident happened just before 2pm.
“The council is aware of an incident involving a contractor earlier today,” he said.
‘The municipality understands that the person concerned is receiving medical assistance.’
WorkSafe was notified and launched an investigation with inspectors visiting the site later on Friday.
