‘You can ask, but don’t argue’: Amit Shah tells reporter on Manipur issue | India News – Times of India


NEW DELHI: Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday refused to comment on the issue of Chief Minister N Biren Singh’s resignation over the violence in Manipur, asking the reporter not to “discuss”. He further said that the central government was in talks with both the Meiteis and the Kukis for lasting peace in the state.
Shah held a press conference where he shared the success story of the 100 days of Modi3.0 When asked why the prime minister of the violence-torn state was still in his post, Shah replied that “you can ask questions but you cannot discuss.”

Asked if Prime Minister Narendra Modi was considering visiting the ethnic violence-torn state on his 74th birthday, something that has always been a subject of criticism from the opposition, Shah told the press officer that if such a decision were taken, “you would come to know.”
The interior minister took credit for bringing “political stability” for the “first time in 60 years.”
“For the first time in 60 years, there is an atmosphere of political stability in the country and we have also experienced continuity of policy. It is very difficult to enter the 11th year by maintaining the direction of policy, the speed of policy and the accuracy of policy implementation for 10 years,” he said.
He also said that the government plans to implement the principle of ‘One Nation One Election’ within its tenure.
Shah also spoke about the controversial Waqf Bill and said, “Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2024 is dedicated to the management, preservation and misuse of Waqf properties. It would be passed by the Parliament in the coming days.”
Talking about the agricultural sector, Shah said, “In the field of agriculture, Rs 20 thousand crore was distributed among 9.5 crore farmers in the 17th term of PM Kisan Samman Yojana. So far, a total of Rs 3 lakh crore has been distributed among 12 crore 33 lakh farmers.”
