You can now upload and analyze files in the Gemini app
Gemini is getting a new artificial intelligence (AI) feature that will let users upload and analyze files within the mobile app. Google recently rolled out the Gmail Q&A feature on Android devices powered by Gemini, and now the Gemini app itself is getting a feature called Upload and Analyze Files. This will let users upload a document, have the AI analyze the content, and ask and receive questions and responses. This feature will be available to paid subscribers of the Gemini app.
Gemini’s Upload and Analysis Feature Rolls Out
Google’s Gemini supporting documents reveal that the new Upload and Analyse Files feature is now rolling out to users. Currently, people with a personal Google account need a Gemini Advanced subscription, and people using a school or work account need a Gemini Enterprise, Gemini Business, or Gemini Education subscription.
The Upload and Analyse Files feature allows users to upload a document to the app. Once it’s uploaded, the AI processes the information and can then answer questions based on it. For example, users can add long research papers and ask Gemini to summarize the methodology or results.
According to Google, the feature supports a wide range of file formats, including TXT, DOC, DOCX, PDF, RTF, DOT, DOTX, HWP, HWPX and more. It also supports documents created in Google Docs, table data files, spreadsheet files and others. Notably, up to 10 files can be uploaded at a time and each file can be up to 100 MB in size.
Furthermore, users can use the feature on both the web app and the Android app. While uploading spreadsheet files, users can also ask Gemini to generate custom charts based on the data.
To use the feature, users must first go to the Gemini app or the web app and choose the option to Add files at the bottom of the text box. Users can upload the file from the device by choosing Upload filesor choose Motivation to upload it from Google Drive. To upload a file from Google Drive, users must first enable the extension.
