A COUPLE have shared the moment they made a shocking discovery after moving into their new home.

Josh and Emily hated the dirty, outdated carpet in their new home, so they decided to rip it out in the hopes that something usable was still there.

They documented the process in a video on his TikTok page, as he said, “We’re going to be taking out the carpet for the first time, and hopefully we’ll have a nice floor.”

He then began to remove the layers of carpet and underlay, exposing the floor beneath. His partner could not hide her delight when she saw what looked like parquet.

As he showed her the rest of the floor, she squealed with excitement when she saw that it was the coveted diamond parquet.

“This is insane!” said Josh, while Emily could be heard exclaiming in the background that it was “really good quality too.”

Josh added that he suspected the hardwood floors extended from that room into the living room, since the same carpet was everywhere.

“This was the moment we first saw the floor,” they wrote in the video.

Parquet flooring is notoriously expensive, with homeowners likely to pay upwards of £2,000 for a small room.

Since Josh and his significant other installed the flooring in two large rooms, it would have likely cost thousands of dollars to install.

The price depends on the type of wood used for the floor. Someone even claimed that it looked like walnut, one of the most expensive materials.

People were quick to react to the video. One wrote: “You won the floor lottery!!!!”

We had a leak in our utility room so we ripped out the floor and made a shocking discovery… I had to call the police

“That is absolutely phenomenal!!!” added another.

“OMGGGGG,” said a third.

“That’s fucking hot!!!” wrote someone else.

“My partner and I just moved and I want a WOODEN floor. When I see this I want to cry!”

“So happy for you!”

“Not only did you find gold, you also found a diamond,” another noted.

“It is beautiful!”

“I could never stop crying. They are so beautiful,” someone else raved.
