Your Pixel Tablet could soon get a VPN-style upgrade
- Google’s VPN has been reintroduced to the Pixel Tablet in the latest Android beta
- Originally released in June, the VPN service was originally considered incompatible with the device
- The update is expected to be fully rolled out in March 2025
Google appears to have extended Google’s support of its Pixel-exclusive VPN to Pixel Tablet users.
If reported by Android Authoritythe newest Android 15 QPR2 Beta 1 release includes Google’s VPN pre-installed on Pixel Tablet devices. Two X users, formerly Twitter, confirmed on the site that their devices were showing the VPN service after the update.
Google VPN launched in June on the Google Pixel 7 and newer models. Still, at that time, Pixel Tablet owners were only able to install the app briefly before it stopped working because Google deemed it an incompatible device.
Did you know?
The Big Tech giant ended its Google One VPN service for good on June 20, 2024. The reason? “People weren’t using it,” the provider said. The VPN service was later rebranded as exclusive to Pixel devices.
Google has not yet made an official announcement and no updates have been made to the Google VPN support page to mention the Pixel Tablet.
Still, some Pixel Tablet users have already noticed their VPN by Google app starting to work on their device – both Android Authority and 9to5Google reported.
The update is scheduled for March 2025, so if you want to try out Google’s latest VPN solution, you won’t have to wait long. Alternatively, you can also go to the Android beta program website to take early action.
