The recent State of business e -mail 2025 Exlaimer’s report, based on more than 4,000 answers from Global IT leaders, has revealed while communication stacks are expanding, they are still anchored per e -mail.
Why e -Mail remains a serious communication channel

However, these tools often cannot achieve business -wide standardization, because their acceptance is usually unequal, influenced by departmental needs, company size or adulthood – and as a result, communication can be broken on different platforms.

According to the research, almost half of all internal and external communication still run through e -mail, more than any other tool. For messages about sensitive or high-stakes, e-mail is preferred because it offers traceability, sustainability and clarity.
“We have never had ways to connect and work together at work, but e -mail remains the backbone of business communication,” said Vicky Wills, Chief Technology Officer at Aclaimer.
“As new tools arise, the challenge for IT leaders is not only platforms, it ensures that they are strategically implemented. We build communication environments that are clear, connected and suitable for the future.”
Departments such as the (56 percent), HR, customer success and finances continue to rely on e -mail, according to the study, because these are roles that require precision, auditability and structured messages, functions that often miss instant messaging platforms.
Instant Messaging is unmistakably a central part of the modern company and 89 percent of IT leaders assess it as important as E -mail.
Although instant messaging is used for speed and informal check-ins, e-mail processes the tasks that must be assessed, registered and revised.
For small and medium-sized companies that want to streamline communication while maintaining supervision, e-mail remains central.
