You’ve been washing your hair wrong – and it could be causing it to fall out
A DERMATOLOGIST has warned that many people are washing their hair incorrectly and this could lead to hair loss.
Dr. Aamna Adel revealed on TikTok that not washing your hair every day can lead to hair loss.
The dermatologist added that it’s a myth that you can train your scalp to produce less oil by washing it less often.
She said: “Hair training is honestly the most ridiculously obscene thing I’ve ever heard.
“I’m really sorry to have to tell you this, but it just doesn’t work that way.”
Dr. Aamna explained that your scalp’s oil production is controlled by your hormones. It doesn’t matter if you wash your hair every day or a few times a week, it still takes the same amount of time for your hair to get greasy.

She added that washing your hair only a few times a week causes a buildup of dirt and hair products that clog your hair follicles.
“That in itself can lead to hair loss,” she said.
According to Dr. Aamna, you should wash your hair every day if it becomes oily after just one day.
However, if you have a dry, flaky scalp or coarse, frizzy hair, you may only need to wash your hair once a week.
She said, “I don’t know where the idea comes from that if you wash your hair every day you’re going to lose more hair.”
The doctor said that there have been studies that show that people who wash their hair every day lose less hair than people who don’t.
She said, “So if you train your hair and your hair falls out, that could be the reason.”
The video of Dr. Aamna, which was posted under the username @aamnaadel has likely left many people with their mouths open, as the video has already been viewed more than 1.3 million times on the video platform.
TikTok users rushed to the video’s comments section to share their thoughts, but opinions were divided.
