‘You’ve got guts,’ people shout as wedding guests show off ‘absolutely no-no’ dress
A WOMAN left people with their mouths open after she showed off her red wedding dress.
Lucy, a fashionista from Westminster, London, left social media users in splits over her dress after she asked for advice on what shoes to pair with the eye-catching gown.
The blonde beauty proudly showed off her tight red dress online, sharing a video with the caption, “Shoe advice wanted, girls.”
Posing in her new House of CB dress, which retails for £189, the content creator said: “Does anyone have any advice on what shoes to wear with this dress?”
She turned to the side to show off the woven maxi dress, which is sleeveless, has a round neck, a dropped waist, a gathered hem and a tulle underskirt.
The wedding guest added: “I’m going to a wedding on Friday and I think I’m going to wear this, 99% sure, the tags are still in it, just in case.”

“I wonder what people think about the fit of the dress, both when packing and unpacking?
“Are you thinking wedges or stilettos or some other suggestion?
“I’m just stunned. I have to order today to make sure they arrive on time.”
But the TikTok clip, which was posted under the username @a spoon full of honeyhas clearly caused quite a stir, as the video has already been viewed 84,800 times.
Social media users were divided, not over what shoes Lucy should wear, but over her dress.
While some thought it was ‘beautiful’, others felt it was inappropriate to wear the color red to a wedding.

A second chimed in: “I need this dress in my life! You looked incredibly beautiful!”
Wedding Guest Etiquette
If you’re having trouble choosing a dress for wedding season, here are a few rules about what not to wear so you don’t get into trouble.
- According to tradition, wearing red to a wedding means you have slept with the groom.
- Informal clothing such as jeans and flip-flops should always be avoided.
- Any color that can be recognized as white or cream, even if it is not.
- Most will agree that your décolletage should be covered.
- Wearing white is absolutely taboo if you are not the bride.
While a third replied: “What a stunning dress, perfect for a wedding!”
But at the same time, not everyone was equally positive.
Not a dress for a wedding. You are supposed to blend in, not draw attention.

Why You Should Never Wear White to a Wedding
JOSIE Griffiths, deputy editor at Fabulous, who is tying the knot this year, has shared her thoughts on wearing white to a wedding…
Josie Griffiths said: I consider myself a low-maintenance person when it comes to fashion and beauty.
I can be out the door in 20 minutes in the morning, normally put on my mascara on the bus or subway and spend my work-from-home days in my workout clothes.
But when it comes to my wedding this summer, that all fell through.
Professional hair and make-up treatments were booked for 8am, I went all out for my wedding dress, bought designer shoes and even bought a second dress for the evening party.
So if I think about someone wearing a white dress on my big day, I think I’d be pretty mad.
The idea behind not wearing a white dress is based on the idea of not ‘overshadowing’ the bride.
Which, to be fair, is unlikely. Not only has she potentially spent a small fortune on her look for the day, she’s also one of the only two people in attendance who knows (and hopefully likes) all of the guests.
The biggest risk you run is making a fool of yourself and becoming the victim of gossip from complete strangers.
A wedding guest I met in October 2022 is still etched in my memory. I still don’t know what was worse: the fact that she was so drunk that she bumped into people on the dance floor, or her decision to wear a white dress, which was perhaps made slightly better by the glass of red wine she had drunkenly downed.
I know weddings are expensive for everyone and if you don’t want to buy a whole new outfit that’s fine I’m all for reusing what you already have in your wardrobe.
Avoid the white dress, for the sake of the bride – and yourself.
A third commented: “Not a dress for a wedding. You should blend in, not draw attention.”
Meanwhile, another wrote: “I thought red was one of the colours you can’t wear to a wedding.”
And someone else wrote: “Red would be an absolute no-go for a wedding. Wearing red here means you’re chasing your husband.”
