Zepp Health Unveils Zepp OS 4 with AI-Powered Features from GPT-4o

Zepp Health, the parent company of Amazfit, announced the launch of Zepp OS 4 on Tuesday. The new operating system for its smartwatches comes with the integration of OpenAI’s latest artificial intelligence (AI) model GPT-4o and brings multiple new features. The company claims that the supported Amazfit wearables will get voice command capabilities, new personalized wellness features, and better messaging and Bluetooth integration. Currently, Zepp OS 4 has been rolled out for the Amazfit Balance and Amazfit Active smartwatches, with support for the Amazfit T-Rex Ultra, Falcon and Cheetah series coming later this year.

In a newsroom afterZepp Health announced the fourth major update to the Zepp OS and revealed the new features it would bring to supported devices. The company emphasized that the GPT-4o integration was aimed at improving the functionality of Amazfit smartwatches and providing more useful responses. There is also a focus on personalized wellness solutions.

One of the major highlights of the new operating system is the addition of voice commands to Zepp Flow. The primary interface of the Zepp OS allows users to control the device using natural language interactions. Users can manage settings, reply to messages from apps like WhatsApp, and initiate Bluetooth phone calls just by speaking the command. Notably, WhatsApp integration is only available on Android for now. The company said that iOS support will be added later this year.

Zepp OS 4 can also use GPT-4o’s AI capabilities to respond verbally to the user, eliminating the need to read written responses on the screen. The OS currently supports English and German, but the company said it will add support for French, Italian, Spanish, Japanese, Korean and Portuguese later this month.

There are two more interesting features that come with the Zepp OS 4. The first is the improved Bluetooth functionality, which allows users to control compatible devices such as speakers, bike meters and even GoPro cameras directly from the smartwatch. There are also several new mini apps that have been added to the app store. These mini apps are aimed at helping users with outdoor activities and playing sports.

Finally, GPT-4o’s AI capabilities have been used to personalize wellness solutions. Zepp Aura can now support AI-driven sleep guidance, and Zepp Coach can provide real-time fitness coaching. The company said new capabilities will be added to the Zepp Health ecosystem regularly.
