7th Pay Commission: The Nitish Kumar-led Bihar government has hiked dearness allowance for state government employees and dearness allowance (DR) for pensioners by 4 percent, according to reports. Currently, the employees are eligible for 42 percent DA under the 7th Pay Commission. The latest increase would increase the key surcharge to 46 percent.

The reports further add that the decision was reportedly taken by the Prime Minister during today’s Cabinet meeting. The Dearness Allowance increases are being rolled out with salaries due in December. The arrears would also be paid to the employees for four months.

In response to the cabinet decision, the Ministry of Finance has issued a press release stating that employees/pensioners/family pensioners who receive salary/pension in the 7th centrally revised wage structure will receive a duration allowance of 46% instead of 42% with effect from 1 July 2007. %. 2023.

The decision to increase DA would benefit about 4.5 million state government employees in Bihar, and the DR hike would benefit about 6 million pensioners of the state.
