Facebook Marketplace scam: Melbourne woman charged after police unravel alleged online scam with at least 20 victims nationwide
A woman has been charged after police unraveled multiple alleged Facebook marketplace scams that defrauded victims across the country.
Police allege a 37-year-old woman from Donvale, Melbourne, advertised luxury fashion items for sale online in April and May.
After customers paid for the items, the Melbourne woman allegedly pocketed the money and never sent the goods to the buyers.
At least 20 victims were netted in the alleged scam, believed to be from across Australia.

“The deceptions run into the thousands of dollars,” read a statement from Victoria Police.
The Melbourne woman was arrested at her home in Donvale on Wednesday.
She was charged with 25 counts of obtaining property by deception.
The woman was refused bail to appear at Ringwood Magistrate’s Court on Thursday.
