New Delhi: A 72-year-old woman has died after she was allegedly stabbed 52 times on her left shoulder, face, back and chest with a sharp object by some unidentified persons while riding a scooter from Mandawali to Preet Vihar in East Delhi .

The woman was identified as Sudha Gupta, a 72-year-old housewife, who had lost her husband about 12 years ago. She had three sons and two daughters. Two of her sons are doctors while the third is a real estate dealer. The daughters are married. The family owned several properties, all of which were managed by the seventy-year-old.

How did the plan to kill the older woman come about?

According to the police, the suspect had devised the plan to acquire some of her properties. One of the suspects in the murder is a real estate dealer who knew she owned several properties and would rent them out.

One of the suspects is a real estate dealer who knew about her holdings and viewed her properties worth Rs. 30-40 crore for quite a long time. He allegedly consulted the other suspects in the case whether they should use guns or a knife to kill the woman.

The suspects have been identified as Monu Dedha alias Chacha (18), Pushpendra Yadav alias Aiyaa (18), Sarthak Nagar alias Ladoo (19) and Vikas Chaudhary alias Lalla (20). Dedha works as a real estate dealer while Ladoo and Lalla are dairy farmers. all four are school leavers.

Dedha, Yadav and Sarthak brought three ice picks and attacked the woman to make sure she died. Later Vikas Chaudhary met the three men and dropped the Gurugram, from there they booked a taxi through a taxi aggregator and fled. The trio stayed at an employee’s house in Rithoj village in Haryana.

The PCR call

At around 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, police received two PCR calls about a woman stabbed by two men and the second about a woman who was rushed to a hospital. Amrutha Guguloth, DCP (East), said: “The initial medical report from the hospital where the woman was first taken said it was trauma due to a traffic accident. At the second hospital, we heard that the woman had succumbed to her injuries.”

However, when the body was examined, police personnel noticed multiple piercings, such as those made by a large needle or an ice pick. “The left shoulder, the face, the side of the chest, the waist and the back all had these wounds,” Guguloth said.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the woman was attacked while on her way home in Laxmi Nagar after collecting the rent from one of her properties in Mandawali.
