Aaron Rodgers begins his comeback journey with the New York Jets.

“Coach [Robert] Saleh says QB Aaron Rodgers’ 21-day practice window opens today,” the Jets’ official account wrote via X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday, November 29.

Following the announcement, Saleh, 44, held a press conference to discuss what Rodgers, 39, will do as he continues to recover from his Achilles injury.

“For Aaron, what he would do in practice is no different than what he would do on the field when it comes to certain drills on the individual — instead of throwing with staff members, he throws with teammates,” Saleh told reporters. “There is no additional risk involved. There are certain things he has been acquitted of that we will allow him to do.”

Saleh also noted that Rodgers “wouldn’t do anything to endanger himself.”

Aaron Rodgers is one of the best quarterbacks to ever play in the NFL, but it’s often his off-field antics that get most people talking. Rodgers — who was the Green Bay Packers’ superstar quarterback for 18 seasons before joining the New York Jets in April 2023 — came under fire in November […]

In September, Rodgers underwent surgery after tearing his Achilles tendon in the opening moments of his first game with the Jets. The footballer’s injury was expected to keep him on the sidelines for the rest of the season. However, Rodgers has hinted that he has plans to overcome the obstacle sooner than others expected.

“I don’t want to get caught up in a timeline, I just want to get healthy,” he said on The Pat McAfee Show in September. “But I will do everything I can to recuperate, so that at some point I will be ready to play football again. That’s the goal.”

Nearly a month after his surgery, Rodgers shocked fans when he was spotted walking without crutches and throwing passes with his teammates while standing on the sidelines.

“He’s on a mission. I won’t let anything pass him by,” Saleh told NBC Sports at the time. “I heard he is absolutely dominating the rehab and he really wants to come back this year.”

Speaking to NBC’s Melissa Stark in November, Rodgers revealed he planned to return to the football field in mid-December.

“He said, ‘I know it sounds crazy, but you do a good operation, you have a good patient, it makes this possible,’” Stark recalled at the time.

This is Rodgers’ first season with the Jets after being traded from the Green Bay Packers. During his 18 seasons with the Packers, he took home the Super Bowl trophy in 2011 and was named the game’s MVP. He also earned several season MVP titles in 2011, 2014, 2020 and 2021.
