The leads in Channel 9’s new Shane Warne docuseries ended up in hospital after a sex scene went wrong.

Marny Kennedy, who plays Simone Callahan, the late cricketer’s ex-wife, told The Daily Telegraph that shooting for the miniseries in Melbourne was not all smooth sailing.

After a certain bedroom scene went horribly wrong, they were both rushed to the hospital and neither of them came out unscathed.

Marny left the ER with a broken wrist, and Alex Williams, who plays the main character in the telefilm called Warnie, had the back of his head popped open.

Explaining how the incident happened, the actress said, “We were walking down a hallway and we were supposed to go into the bedroom and land on the bed, but we both completely missed the bed.”

“We ended up sitting in the emergency room together, him with a bandage on his head and me with my wrist tied.”

The Warnie actress explained that it was a hospital for the elderly, so the two of them dressed up in their Shane and Simone costumes was a funny sight to see, so they decided to take a selfie together.

She added, “It was just Alex and me with our bleached hair, completely still in the wardrobe, sitting there surrounded by elderly residents.”

The actors, who have been friends for ten years, eventually discovered the funny side of the situation.

They had personalized mugs made with their ER photo on them for the entire crew to celebrate their last day of filming.

A trailer for the miniseries, which first aired on Channel 9 two weeks ago, was not well received by some viewers.

The cricketer died just over a year ago in March 2022 of a suspected heart attack while on holiday in Thailand.

Just six months after his death, the network confirmed it was producing a two-part miniseries about Warne’s life, but it was reported that production on the series began just three weeks after his death.

While another wrote, “Does anyone else think it’s too early for a Warnie show?” He’s less than 15 months away and the show already seems filmed and ready to be released.

Filmed in Melbourne, the home of the late cricketer, the mini-series chronicles a dramatized version of the Spin King’s remarkable sporting career and rise to fame.

Shane’s eldest daughter Brooke, 24, previously called Nine’s announcement of a telemovie based on her father “beyond disrespectful” given that he was a commentator for the network’s cricket coverage for 23 years.

“Do any of you have any respect for Dad? Or his family?’ she wrote on Instagram.

‘He’s done so much for Channel Nine and now you want to dramatize his life and that of our family six months after he passed away? You are beyond disrespectful.’

According to Nine, 9Network and Screentime met with the Warne family during pre-production and they have since changed their tone and are now supporting the series.
