Affirmative action has been a factor in college admissions decisions for decades. But it has also caused much division, with states like Michigan, California and Washington banning it. Now affirmative action may disappear altogether as the Supreme Court considers cases involving the University of North Carolina and Harvard, the outcomes of which could profoundly change education in America.
