It was posted in response to a Fire TV Stick user who asked for help because the remote wouldn't pair with their device.

“Why isn't my Fire Stick remote working? I did everything it says when the remote discovered it wasn't working.

“I disconnected the input and changed the batteries, but it still doesn't seem to work. Is the remote dead? How can I switch it?” the user requested.

Other Amazon Fire TV Stick users tried to help the confused third-party owner in the comments.

“It happened to me too. There appeared to be nothing wrong with the remote control. It was simply not linked to the TV.

Just follow these simple steps. Yeah….. simple if you know how…” said one Fire Stick owner.

They also added one YouTube link next to their comment, which led to an explainer video about remote pairing.

The YouTube video shows a solution in case the power and volume buttons on the remote control do not work.

The trick is easy to follow and is also described in detail in the description of the video.

“To fix this problem, you need to go to the settings. Go to equipment management,” wrote YoTuPi.

Next, you need to click on Equipment and then press TV so that the Fire TV Stick can be detected.

“Select Yes. Press the power button on your Fire TV remote to turn off the TV.

“Then press the power button again to turn on your TV,” YoTuPi continued.

You will then see a message asking if the TV turned on and off when you clicked the power button.

If the answer is yes, your remote has been updated.

Amazon also has advice for users who have trouble pairing their Fire TV Stick remote during setup.

“If your remote does not pair automatically, press the At home until 'Press to start' appears on the screen', Amazon say.

It may take about ten seconds to load, so don't worry if it doesn't appear right away.
