Andy Cohen wondered if Raquel was ‘medicated’ during ‘Pump Rules’ reunion

Cause for concern? Andy Cohen remembered his first reaction to Rachel Levisslack of emotion as she apologized for her affair with Tom Sandoval at the Vanderpump Rules meeting.

“I was concerned about Raquel’s mental health during the reunion. I mean, I still am. But actually, when I saw how emotionless she was, I thought she was really drugged or really out of touch with her part in everything,” Bravo’s executive producer, 55, who hosted the season 10 special, told me. Variety on Wednesday, June 7.

Andy went on to question Raquel’s reaction to Scheana Shay‘s breakdown over their friendship.

“When Scheana cries her eyes out and [Raquel] says in the trailer, ‘I should have written her a note’ — I found that very confusing and it made me think maybe she was missing something about what these relationships were,’ he added. “It made me think maybe she didn’t think they were as real as the other people thought. I did not understand.”

The season 10 reunion of Vanderpump Ruleswhich was filmed in March came weeks later Us weekly confirmed Sandoval, 40, y Ariana Madixbroke up because of his infidelity. That same month, Scheana, 37, made headlines when Raquel, 28, filed a protection order after accusing the “Scheananigans” podcast host of a physical altercation following their joint appearance on Watch What Happens live with Andy Cohen.

As a result, Scheana and the former beauty queen were unable to shoot the reunion together. The former friends switched places and the production kept them 100 yards apart all day. During a one-on-one interview with Andy, the model revealed that she was planning to lift the restraining order and that was officially lifted later that month.

Executive producer Alex Baskin gave his thoughts on how the production needed to adjust filming around Scheana and Raquel’s legal issues — and their wildly mismatched on-screen reactions.

“Raquel and Scheana’s different poses in their trailers reflect them as a whole. Scheana was very intense and agitated. And I think one of the qualities of Raquel that I think brings a little fire to her is that she seems very even,” he shared with Variety on Wednesday. “In some ways that helped her that day because it got her through a really tough day. But sometimes – where it does her a disservice – it seems like maybe she’s unaffected by what’s happening or doesn’t care. She would otherwise persevere, but she had a very calm and poised demeanor.

Scheana, for her part, reflected on where she stands now with Raquel, adding, “I’ve mourned the loss of my friendship with Raquel and wondered who the fk Rachel is.” (Raquel previously confirmed her legal name is Rachel.)

During the final segment of the reunion, which aired Wednesday, Raquel continued to shock viewers with never-before-seen footage from a confessional.

“I think it’s important for me to tell the truth. I think I’ve been lying all along and been so deceitful I don’t want to lie anymore and it’s all out there anyway. The worst is over, but I still find myself having to lie about specific timeline things,” she told producers during her final interview of the season.

The California native admitted that she and Sandoval weren’t completely honest about the timeline of their secret romance. (The couple previously claimed they met once in August 2022 before embarking on an affair after filming wrapped a month later.)

“This is the only story we’ve agreed on to straighten it out. And I know the reason why Tom wanted to lie about it is because it looks really bad to meet someone’s boyfriend in their own house when they’re out of town. Especially for a funeral of all things,” Raquel said before she started crying, confirming that they were at Ariana and Sandoval’s house when she was out of town for her grandmother’s funeral. “So, I don’t know if this is so – king killed my soul. I’m so tired of lying, I hate it. I hate being deceitful. It’s terrible.”

Shortly after production on Season 10 wrapped up, Us confirmed that Raquel has checked into a mental health facility in the aftermath of the drama.

“Raquel and her family decided before the relationship was discovered that she would go to a voluntary mental health facility,” said a statement from her representative. “Raquel planned to admit himself before the VPR reunion taped on March 23. She was supposed to go to the pre-reunion, but decided she wanted to finish her movie commitment. Bravo and production were aware and supported her journey to better mental health.
