ANTONY faces a fight to save his career at Manchester United, with the club set to listen to offers for their £86million Brazilian.

Erik ten Hag raided his old club Ajax for Antony, the second most expensive signing in United’s history, after Paul Pogba.

But the 24-year-old has endured a miserable 20 months, with off-field issues affecting his on-pitch performances.

And unless Antony finds top form quickly, United could decide to cut their losses in the summer following the arrival of Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

Antony was placed on leave in September following allegations of domestic violence.

He returned in October but failed to score any goals or assists in his last 20 league appearances.

On Saturday, Ten Hag chose 19-year-old Omari Forson to start against Fulham, while Rasmus Hojlund was injured.

And with United trailing 1-0, Dutch boss Amad threw on Diallo in an attempt to save the match, with Antony eventually taking the lead a minute from time in the 2-1 defeat.

Ten Hag still hopes to get the best out of a player who did well under him at Ajax.

But he admitted after Saturday’s match that Diallo and Forson – as well as Alejandro Garnacho – all deserved to play for Antony.

Ten Hag said: “It had nothing to do with fitness. He is fit, but we have a lot of options on the right side, where we lack other positions due to injuries.

“We have all seen the form Antony is in and he has to go one step further. I see it at training, but also Omari [Forson] and Amad Diallo and Garnacho deserve to play.

Mikel Arteta ‘would leave Arsenal for Man Utd’ if Erik ten Hag leaves, club legend claims

“He has to prove something, but he will succeed. He has great potential, even if he hasn’t shown it lately, but I know what his talent is and it’s about him proving his talent, it’s about him.

“He will probably get his chances, but I think that was probably always the idea and you have games and now he has to show himself on the training pitch, but others do that too.

“We have opportunities with that [Amad] Diallo is coming back from injury and is doing well in training, Omar is doing well.

“We have options to fill those positions, it is not certain that Marcus Rashford should play as a striker.”
