He made six appearances in the first half of the season, scoring one goal and providing one assist.

Marquinhos, who has played four games for the Brazilian reserves, was then loaned to Norwich, where he made eleven appearances and scored once.

Mikel Arteta returned to Arsenal in the summer and sent him out on loan again, this time to Ligue 1 side Nantes.

But he was recalled to the Emirates last month after making just five appearances for the French side.

And according to GloboFluminese have now completed a deal for Marquinhos to join them on loan with an option to buy.

A verbal agreement has been reached and official paperwork is expected to be completed in the coming days.

The permanent sale of Marquinho's in the summer could create much-needed space on the wage bill for any newcomers.

Arteta is believed to be keeping an eye on a number of players in the transfer window.
