What is Skin Cancer?

There are three main types of skin cancer: melanoma (including nodular melanoma), basal cell carcinoma, and squamous cell carcinoma.

Melanoma: The most deadly form of skin cancer and if left untreated can spread to other parts of the body. Appears as a new spot or an existing spot that changes color, size, or shape.

Basal cell carcinoma: Most common, least dangerous form of skin cancer. Red, pale or pearly in color, appearing as a lump or dry, scaly area. Grows slowly, usually in places that are often exposed to the sun.

Squamous cell carcinoma: A thickened, red, scaly patch that bleeds, crusts, or ulcerates easily. Grows for several months, usually in places frequently exposed to the sun. More common in people over 50 years of age.

“The doctors wrote it down as URGENT!!!!! And were sooo concerned.

“I was so scared because I thought I should just book a skin check because I saw another influencer talking about it.”

Anna then said that she used to sunbathe as a teenager and begged her fans not to make the same mistake she did as the consequences could be potentially fatal.

She continued, “I tanned a lot from the ages of 14 to 18. Now you couldn’t pay me enough money in the world to get a tan.

Please be safe in the sun!!! Get your skin checked!!! I get one every six to 12 months.

‘Living is better than being brown. It is one of the leading causes of death in Australia and also the most preventable cancer.

“If you’ve never had a skin check, hit Instagram now and book one at your nearest clinic.”

The influencer has previously spoken about the importance of skin checks and said she believes it is important to raise awareness as it can save lives.

“I said something similar in my story a few years ago and a handful of people said they had skin checks and found skin cancer,” she added.

“They had no idea and my story rightly saved their lives.

“Even the tiniest moles can be deadly without you realizing it.
