7.5 million baby shark bath toys are being recalled after reports of injured children
About 7.5 million Baby Shark bath toys are being recalled after reports that at least a dozen children have been injured by them, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said Thursday.
Both the full-size and mini-size versions of the toys are included in the voluntary recall, which the commission and Zuru, a toymaker based in El Segundo, California, announced after complaints that children had fallen on or sat on the full-size . plastic top fin of toy.
The top fins of the shark toy pose a risk of “puncture, cuts and punctures,” the commission said. About nine of the 12 reported injuries required medical attention or stitches, the federal agency said.
The commission and Zuru urged customers to stop using the recalled toys.

Both Robo Alive Junior Baby Shark Sing & Swim full size bath toys and Mini Baby Shark Swimming bath toys were recalled. They came in blue, yellow and pink. The full-sized version sings when placed in the water; the mini version does not.
The full size toys that were recalled were sold from May 2019 to March 2023. The mini toys were sold from July 2020 to June 2023.
Walmart, CVS Pharmacy, Family Dollar and Target are among the major retailers that sold the toys. Several online retailers also sold them.
A refund is available for those who cut off the fin, write “recalled” on the shark and upload a photo of it online. Directions are available on the the toy manufacturer’s website.
Consumers will receive a full refund of $14 for each large toy and $6 for each mini toy in the form of a prepaid virtual Mastercard.
Consumers can search for model number #25282 and a date code beginning with the letters “DG” followed by “YYYY/MM/DD” in the date range DG20190501 through DG20220619 to determine if they have the recalled sharks at their full size.
For the recalled mini sharks, model numbers are #7163, #7175, #7166 or #25291 and the toy has a date code between DG2020615 and DG2023525.
