Fans have gone wild after a new Barbie teaser was shared online claiming Ryan Gosling “steals the show” as Ken.

The actor, 42, stars alongside Margot Robbie’s Barbie in the comedy and despite some initial doubts about the casting, Twitter users chanted his praises when a new clip emerged.

In the scene, Ken is seen with a surfing injury he’s suffering from, announcing, “Shredding waves is much more dangerous than people realize,” as Barbie declares, “You’re very brave Ken.”

Ken continues, “You know surfing isn’t even my job, nor is it a lifeguard, which is a common misconception.”

As the puppets look startled, he explains, ‘Actually, it’s my job, it’s just ‘beach’.

The conversation then turns to their evening plans, with Ken crossing his fingers and asking, “Hey Barbie, can I come over to your house tonight?”

Barbie then jokes, “Of course. I don’t have anything planned tonight, just a big giant blowout party with all the Barbies, planned choreography, and a custom song. You must come over!’

Fans took to Twitter to share their thoughts on the scene, saying, “I have a feeling this movie is going to make a lot of $$.” “Watch my boy Ryan steal the show from under Margot’s feet.”

Another teaser released showed America Ferrera, who plays a human named Gloria, shocked to discover Barbie in the real world.

She adds, “How could this even have happened? How are things here? You’re just an idea,” to which Barbie replied, “Great idea!”

Twitter crashed at the new clip, with fan comments saying ‘I’m weirdly excited for this movie lol’; “The crazy thing is I’ve never played with Barbie toys and never seen a single Barbie TV/movie…but for some reason I want to watch THIS. Proof that the actors and a nice trailer can arouse people’s interest.’

“Hitting her in the car head first, arms straight out, is so accurate omg”; “A hot minute I thought it was car advertising, still looks good”; “the plot is like Life-Size.”

Development of Barbie began in the late 2000s, and characters such as Diablo Cody and Amy Schumer were added to the project at various points.

Margot signed on as the film’s star in 2019, and Greta Gerwig and Noah Baumbach were added as screenwriters that same year.

The first of the pair was formally appointed as project director in July 2021.

Margot, who also serves as one of the feature film’s producers, recently spoke to Vogue and opened up about pitching the project to Mattel.

The actress recalled saying, “Obviously we want to honor the 60-year legacy of this brand. But we have to recognize that there are a lot of people who aren’t fans of Barbie.”

The actress also said that at no point in her career did she consider stepping into the doll’s shoes.

“It wasn’t that I ever wanted to play Barbie, or dream of being Barbie, or anything like that. This is going to sound stupid, but I really didn’t even think about playing Barbie until I was years into developing the project,” she said.

Gosling also spoke to media, revealing that his costar kindly left him “a pink present with a pink bow, from Barbie to Ken, every day while we were filming.”

Barbie is currently scheduled to release on July 21.
