The Death of Big Pokey

Pokey left this universe on June 18, 2023in Beaumont, Texas. He was only 41 years old and died after completing his Saturday show by collapsing in a bar in Beaumont. Immediately he was rushed to the hospital and given CPR, but he was unable to breathe. His death is announced by his partner, bun B with a post on Instagram stating:

He met DJ Screw, aka Robert Earl Davis Jr., at his friend’s party. He only learned freestyle with his school friend and was an amateur at the time. Pokey first touched the mic when Screw invited him to make a tune for Big DeMo’s birthday and become part of the June 27 Freestyle, Screw said:
