Bihar Lok Sabha elections 2024: It is said that Indian politics is incomplete without Uttar Pradesh and Bihar as both states are considered pioneers of Indian politics as they produced prominent politicians. Bihar is considered one of the biggest draws in the country’s politics with 40 Lok Sabha seats. The state ranks fourth among any state in Lok Sabha seat and is capable of turning the tide of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Bihar Lok Sabha elections 2024: When are the elections?

Since Bihar has the fourth highest number of Lok Sabha seats among all states, the polls here take longer to conclude and it is illogical to take the initial trends into account. Notably, the state’s general elections could take place in April and May, in different phases.

The Lok Sabha elections in the state are generally divided into all phases as announced by the ECI (Election Commission of India). If the same trend continues, the ECI in Bihar could be split into seven to eight phases. However, the numerical phases will only become clear after the official announcement by the Election Commission. which will take place in March.

Bihar has a total of 40 constituencies, with seats divided between reserved and non-reserved candidates. In the 2019 elections, 34 seats were unreserved, while a total of six seats were reserved for SC (Scheduled Caste) candidates.

The NDA, which also included the BJP, JDU and LJP, emerged as the triumphant party, with an impressive 39 out of 40 seats. At the other end of the spectrum, the Mahagathbandhan alliance, comprising the INC, RJD and RLSP, could secure only one seat. The only glimmer of success for them was Md. Jawed of INC from Kishanganj, who was the sole victor of the alliance.
