New Delhi: The BJP has set its sights on an “overwhelming” victory in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi asking key leaders of the organization to work towards increasing the party’s vote share by 10 percent, according to reports sources.

Addressing the BJP national office bearers and state presidents on the concluding day of the two-day brainstorming meeting on Saturday, Home Minister Amit Shah said the BJP’s performance should leave the Opposition “stunned”, the sources said.

With the opposition INDIA bloc planning to wage a one-on-one battle against the BJP, Modi called for a 10 percent increase in the BJP’s vote share over the 2019 elections when the ruling party had won more than 37 percent of the votes. votes, while the National Democratic Alliance led by her had won about 45 percent of the vote.

Since coming to power at the Center in 2014, the BJP has continuously strived to increase its vote share to 50 per cent in the state Assembly polls and has succeeded in many elections.

Shah, like Modi a day earlier, underlined the organization’s primacy in elections and said it should achieve such an “overwhelming” victory that the opposition often ponders before questioning it, sources said.

The Prime Minister emphasized the need to reach women, youth, farmers and the poor – whom he has often described as the four largest ‘castes’.

He asked the party leaders to connect maximum number of these people with the ongoing ‘Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra’, which aims to saturate his government’s key welfare schemes.

The sources said the party’s top brass had not set a specific seat target but emphasized on ensuring a victory that should be greater than the performance of 2019, when the BJP bagged 303 of the 543 Lok Sabha seats.

They accused the opposition of resorting to lies and spreading false stories, but expressed confidence that people would reward Modi with a third consecutive term at the Center.

Top party leaders in their speeches asked BJP functionaries to strengthen booth committees everywhere to ensure that local cadres reach out to more and more people.

The BJP’s big victory in the recent assembly elections was also hailed at the meeting, with party leaders of the three Hindi heartland states of Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh speaking about the victories.

Modi’s leadership, the appeal of his government’s social services and the strength of the organizational apparatus were cited as major reasons for the victory.

The January 22 consecration ceremony at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya also came up for discussion as the party is confident that this will be a key issue in its favor in the polls.
