A “Do Not Travel” warning has been issued as Storm Jocelyn causes “major rail disruption” across Britain.

Storm Isja killed five people in 170 km/h storms over the weekend, but just hours later a second weather front threatens to devastate the country.

Forecasters warned that the 80mph onslaught of Storm Jocelyn is likely to prevent workers from getting roads and railways back into good condition.

Storm Isha toppled trees on many roads, train tracks and power lines and flooded others.

The photos showed trampolines, cables and even a greenhouse cluttering up the railway.

ScotRail has said some services are still suspended on its network while engineers check the lines for damage from Isha's abuse.

Avanti West Coast is urging customers not to travel north Preston after 3:30 p.m.

The operator said: “Your journey may be disrupted if you travel today or tomorrow due to the severe weather expected from Storm Jocelyn.

“Services to and from Scotland will end much earlier than normal today.

“Please do not travel north of Preston after 3.30pm.”

TransPennine Express has also warned passengers to avoid traveling from 3pm as “major disruptions” are expected on trains to and from Scotland.

The LNER service between London King's Cross and Scotland and the CrossCountry train from Newcastle Unpleasant Edinburgh will probably also be affected.

National Rail said Storm Jocelyn could potentially cause delays on other train lines in the UK.

The With office has issued orange and yellow warnings for rain and wind speeds of up to 130 km/h.

An orange wind warning is in force for northern and western Scotland from 6pm today until 8am tomorrow.

There is a high risk of power outages, telephone disruptions, damage to buildings, travel delays, road closures and life-threatening waves.

  • Lumo – some trains delayed after damage to overhead lines
  • ScotRail – all trains suspended from 7pm tonight
  • TransPennine Express – passengers are told they are not allowed to travel from 3pm today until midday tomorrow

A yellow wind warning is in place for the Midlands, Wales, Northern Ireland, Northern England and Scotland from 4pm today until 1pm tomorrow.

West Scotland is also under a rain warning from 7am to 6pm tonight, and north-east Scotland faces an ice warning from 11pm to 9am.

Lancashire, Cumbria and the western edge of North Yorkshire are also under a yellow rain warning from 11am to 7pm.

A Met Office map shows Jocelyn crossing the Atlantic in Isha's wake, picking up strength and speed.

Father of five Jimmy Rowe was named as one of the victims by his heartbroken family after his car went off a flooded road in County Mayo, Ireland.

Elsewhere, a man died in Bradford after reportedly falling into an 'artificial trench' – which was surrounded by barriers.

A neighbor said the storm blew the barriers down – and photos from the scene show them on the ground.

Three people died in separate weather-related accidents in Falkirk in Scotland, Londonderry in Northern Ireland and County Louth in Ireland.

Isha bought gusts of up to 170 km/h in the area Scotland's River Tay estuary, while houses in Donegal, Ireland went up in flames after what was thought to be the case struck by lightning.

Forecasters are now warning Brits to be careful with Jocelyn tearing through the UK in orange and yellow from today weather warnings for the entire country north of Cardiff And Peterborough.

The orange wind warning applies to the west and north of Scotland from 6pm until 8am tomorrow.

The Met Office said: “There is a good chance that power outages will occur, potentially impacting other services such as mobile phone coverage.

“Probably some damage to buildings, such as roof tiles blowing off roofs.

“Longer journey times and cancellations are likely as road, rail, air and ferry services may be affected.

“Some roads and bridges are likely to close.

“Injuries and danger to life are likely from large waves and beach material being thrown onto coastal roads, sea fronts and properties.”

There are also warnings for yellow rain, ice and wind, with the wind alert covering all of Britain north of it Oxford.

The harsh conditions are striking now that the British are still busy cleaning up after Storm Isha.

But others across the country are mourning after the storm claimed victims.

Dad Jimmy was killed on Sunday evening after his car skidded on a flooded road in Ireland.

It was said he had been the driving along the N17 at Lisduff in Claremorris after dropping off his daughter.

The father's devastated brother Albie Rowe said their family were in agony.

Injuries and danger to life are likely as large waves and beach material are thrown onto coastal roads, beach promenades and properties.

Albie said: “Folks, it is with a heavy heart that I bring you the heartbreaking news that our little brother Jimmy Rowe has been killed on the roads.

“Give your loved ones a hug and you never know when it will be the last.

“I love you forever Jimmy.”

Two other men also died in an accident that same night.

An 84-year-old man died after a… Hyundai crashed into a fallen tree on the A905 FiveEast Scotland.

The OAP was the front seat passenger in the car, whose other occupants were not injured.

Emergency services tragically pronounced him dead at the scene near Grangemouth, and are now appealing for drivers to come forward with dashcam footage.

Just two hours earlier, a man in his 60s died in an accident involving two vans and a fallen tree in Limavady, County Londonerry.

Commenting on the coming storm, the Met Office's chief meteorologist Steve Willington said: “While this system will be a step back from Storm Isha, with damage and clean-up still ongoing we could see potentially more impacts of Storm Jocelyn.

“Outbreaks of heavy rain on Tuesday could cause widespread rainfall accumulations of 15 to 20mm, with 40 to 50mm on higher ground in south-west Scotland, the Scottish Highlands and parts of north-west England.

“Gusts are expected to reach speeds of 90 to 100 km per hour in the north west of Scotland, with gusts of up to 120 to 130 km per hour likely in a few places, particularly over exposed parts of the western islands and on the coast of northwest Scotland.”

It comes next howling Storm Isha winds caused extensive damage all over Britain at night.
