Brooke Shields has revealed she was hospitalized in September after a terrifying attack left her ‘frothing at the mouth and turning completely blue’.

The 58-year-old actress was just days away from making her debut on the Café Carlyle show when she “hit her head against the wall” and suffered a grand mal seizure outside L’Artusi restaurant in New York.

Brooke spoke out about the terrifying health scare for the first time, revealing that Bradley Cooper rushed to her aid and held her hand in the ambulance as she was taken to intensive care.

Brooke said the grand mal attack happened because she drank too much water before her show and had low sodium levels.

“I was waiting for an Uber. I go to the bottom of the stairs and apparently start to look funny, and [the people I was with] They said, “Are you okay?”, she reported Glamor in American Women of the Year problem.

‘I walk into L’Artusi restaurant and go to the sommelier who has just taken an hour to watch my run-through. I go in, two women come towards me; I do not know them. Everything starts to go black.

‘Then my hands fall to my sides and my head hits the wall. I’m starting to have a grand mal seizure.

“It means foaming at the mouth, all blue, trying to swallow my tongue. The next thing I remember is being loaded into an ambulance. I’m on oxygen. And Bradley f*****g Cooper is sitting next to me holding my hand.”

Brooke said Bradley, 48, was called after the waiter at the restaurant could not reach her husband Chris Henchy. An assistant knew Bradley was in the area and the Hollywood actor headed straight to L’Artusi.

“His assistant called Bradley and said, ‘Brooke is on the floor. Chris isn’t there. Go get her.” And he came, and someone called the ambulance. And then it was like walking in with Jesus,” she said.

Brooke described the ambulance journey as ‘surreal and strange’, with the actor telling her: ‘I’m going to the hospital with you, Brooke’.

The actress and Bradley have been friends for more than a decade and bonded after starring together in 2008 horror film The Midnight Meat Train.

Once in intensive care, Brooke said she felt “stuck” after doctors inserted a catheter and IV.

It was there that she contracted bronchitis, and her show debut was only days away.

Brooke said doctors told her she was having too much water and wondered if she had cut salt out of her diet — something she vehemently denied because she wasn’t on some “crazy actress” diet.

Brooke said the doctor’s advice was to have more salt in her diet.

The actress subsequently recovered and presented her one-woman show debut on September 12.

Now back to full health, Brooke joins showrunner Quinta Brunson, actor and singer Mary J. Blige, model and transgender attorney Geena Rocero, and actor, author and attorney Selma Blair on the special digital covers of Glamor Women Of The Year.

This year’s honorees will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 7, beginning with the ringing of the opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange, and later with a ceremony hosted by comedian and actor Michelle Buteau at Jazz at Lincoln Center.

What is a grand mal seizure?

  • A tonic-clonic seizure, formerly known as a “grand mal,” is what most people consider a typical epileptic seizure.
  • They happen in 2 phases: a first tonic phase, shortly followed by a second clonic phase:
  • The attack normally stops after a few minutes, but some last longer.
  • Afterwards you may have a headache or have difficulty remembering what happened, and you may feel tired or confused.
