Cara Delevingne reveals she enjoyed her first sober Glastonbury

Cara Delevingne celebrated her first sober Glastonbury this weekend, declaring this year’s festival as ‘by far my favourite’.

The model partied with her friends Anya Taylor Joy and Stella McCartney, sister Poppy and girlfriend Minke at Worthy Farm, and posted a gushing message celebrating her weekend on Instagram on Monday night.

Posting alongside clips of her favorite performances. Cara, 30, wrote that she’been going to Glastonbury since I was 15 but this year was my first sober and it was by far my favourite.’

Cara’s friends posted messages of support for the model, with Made In Chelsea star Hugo Taylor commenting “happy for you Cara.”

Earlier this year, Cara revealed she checked herself into rehab after “heartbreaking” footage published by DailyMail.com in 2022 shook her up.

The model, 30, said she was reflecting on her mental health and addiction struggles after worrying about a string of troubled public appearances.

Speak against Fashion magazine as their April cover star, she confessed that she hadn’t been “ready” to deal with her demons until she got into a “bad place.”

She explained, “I had some sort of interventions, but I wasn’t ready. That is the problem.

“I hadn’t seen a therapist in three years. I just pushed everyone away, which made me realize how badly I was in a bad place.”

Disturbing footage from September showed the 30-year-old nervous and anxious outside Van Nuys Airport as she wandered around in dirty socks and no shoes.

Later, the Only Murders in the Building star said visiting friends and family during her crisis made her realize how loved she is.

Cara continues: ‘I used to think that work should be done when times are bad, but actually work should be done when times are good.

“The work must be done consistently. It will never be repaired or fully cured, but that’s fine with me, and that’s the difference.”

Her well-being was at the forefront of her friends and family last year, after she was pictured behaving erratically on several occasions.

The model explained that she had been lying to herself about her health and it wasn’t until she saw herself in the airport photos that she realized she needed help.

‘I hadn’t slept. I was not okay,” she explained. “It’s heartbreaking because I thought I was having fun, but at one point I thought, ‘Okay, I don’t look good.’

“You know, sometimes you need a reality check, so in a way those pictures were something to be thankful for.”

She confessed to having many “shallow” relationships because she would hold back her emotions so as not to “burden” anyone and because of her fear of being abandoned.

“If you asked any of my friends, they’d say they’d never seen me cry,” she confessed.

‘From September I just needed support. I had to start reaching. And my old friends that I’ve known since I was 13, they all came over and we started crying. They looked at me and said, “You deserve a chance to have joy.”

Through her work in therapy, Cara realized she had to stop chasing the idea of ​​a “quick fix” for healing and has committed to following the 12-step program.

She explained, “I used to be always into the quick fix of healing, like going to a week-long retreat or going to a trauma course, and that helped for a while, but it never really got to the heart of it, the deeper stuff.”

She shared her frustrations with people simplifying her struggles, noting that her recovery will not happen “overnight” and she is aware that it will be a lifelong commitment.

She explained, “This process has its ups and downs, of course, but I’ve come to realize so much. People want my story to be this after-school special where I just say, “Oh look, I was hooked, and now I’m sober and that’s it.”

‘And it’s not that simple. It doesn’t happen overnight…. Of course I want things to happen immediately – I think this generation in particular wants things to happen quickly – but I’ve had to dig deeper.’

It’s certainly a sad chapter in the story of Cara’s life – which is already filled with many twists and turns and excitement.

In addition to her modeling career, Cara also dove into the acting industry and graced the big screen numerous times, including starring in Suicide Squad and Paper Towns.

During her time in Hollywood, she gathered a slew of famous girlfriends and designed her own collection of handbags with fashion brand Mulberry.

Despite her recent troubles, her early successes also include the release of a novel and the launch of her own brand of champagne with her socialite sisters.

In recent weeks, the talented star filmed for American Horror Story: Delicate. She has also been happily in love with girlfriend Minke, 31 – whose real name is Leah Mason – since they confirmed their romance last year.
