Speak with Apartment therapycelebrity esthetician and Skin Lab founder Joshua Ross explained how he became a fan of the store's Marula facial oil, which is comparable to the much more expensive $68 Drunk Elephant virgin marula facial oil.

The California-based skincare guru to the stars also shared how the oils are beneficial for your face.

“Seed oils mimic your skin's natural oils so they don't break you out,” he explained.

Ross was impressed with the skin-saving and, above all, money-saving budget purchase.

“Trader Joe's marula oil is an amazing value for a great facial oil. Marula oil comes from the seed of the marula tree and is rich in fatty acids and amino acids, as well as antioxidants,” he said.

The dupe, which sells for a fraction of the brand's price, can be used on its own as a moisturizer or can even be used on top of other face creams for extra hydration.

The Marula facial oil from Trader Joe sells for $6.99 and is described as being produced by the first cold pressing of marula seeds that are not harvested until the fruit has fallen to the ground.

The marula tree, which grows mainly in southern Africa, bears the hard nuts inside that can be mixed with water to create a traditional alcoholic drink.

But beauty lovers around the world are most fascinated by the nut cosmetic oil extracted from the seeds.

The light-textured oil is non-greasy, making it ideal for hydrating the skin. The product also provides antioxidants to promote a soft appearance.

Ross also recommended the chain's ultra-hydrating gel moisturizer, a dupe for more expensive products in the $50 to $300 range.

The Trader Joe's Gel Moisturizer retails for $8.99 and is described as a light, watery formula.

The water-based gel formula is packed with skin-improving elements.

“It's packed with amazing beneficial ingredients like aloe, hyaluronic acid and glycerin, all great ingredients that soothe the skin, reduce inflammation and hydrate,” he explained.
